The 2024 Less; More list

I hope you all had a wonderful New Year’s!

New Year’s Eve at my place was quiet. College Era Allison would be disappointed (but honestly not surprised) to discover I did not grow up to be the Samantha Jones of Columbus, a fiery dame who knew how to rock slinky sequin cutouts and party like a boss on New Year’s Eve.

However, Allison at 32 needed the quiet time to redecorate my apartment, snuggle a kitty and go to bed early-ish, since I was back at the start/finish line of the First on the First 5k. This has become a tradition over the past few years – volunteering at the 5k finish line, greeting all the runners and walkers with their medals. It may be cheesy, but there’s something undeniable about the energy of a race, from the high school track stars looking to break course records to the first timers doing something out of their comfort zone.

The comp code for a future race put on by the organization hosting the 5k is also a nice touch. I’d be a liar if I said that wasn’t a part of my motivation for volunteering at races. Doing good, and goodness coming back to you.

I also got registered for my spring marathon on New Year’s Day. I’ll tell you all about that in my next post, after Week One of training is done.

But for now, I’m moving into the real topic: my 2024 Ins and Outs list. I saw this trend on Instagram and I kinda like it, so I decided to contribute my two cents but instead call it my Less; More list. So without further adieu, here we go.

The 2024 Less; More List

Less Phone, More Books

Less Fast Food, More Baking

Less Noise, More Flowers

Less Laziness, More Running

Less Panic, More Marina Snuggles

Less Coffee, More Nuun

Less Obsessing, More Grace

Less Grumbling, More Road Trips

Less Self-Deprecation, More Self-Care

Less Clutter, More Letting Go

Less Doing, More Resting

I hope you all are able to enjoy more of what you love this year and less of what bums you out. I’d love to read about your “less; more” goals for 2024 in the comments section.

Yours in life and running,

Allison
