It’s finally May!

As much as I love April, you all have no idea how excited I am for May to be here.

For starters, May is the gateway month to summer, of warm sunny days and pool season. I just realized May 10th will be six months since I moved up here, and I’ve been itching to explore some of the state parks with beaches near me. I love swimming and sunbathing after those cold winter and early spring months where nobody in their right mind is going to venture outside.

The flowers are bloomed or are just about to bloom. Mom brought out the flower pots I had been keeping at her place last weekend, and we spent some of Sunday rearranging those. Since I have a partial sun exposure on my patio, she suggested I plant impatiens in my little pots. That’s going to be one of my weekend chores, planting my flowers and getting the final touch added to the patio. I’ve already got my rocker, a rug that doesn’t take kindly to wind and the wreath on my door, so all I’m missing are my flowers.

In running news, I’m heading up to Cleveland in a couple of weekends for the half for my second-to-last race of spring. There’s something about Cleveland in May, where it’s sunny and bright but not too hot yet, and staying at my favorite downtown hotel within walking distance of my favorite tourist spots and the lakefront. I’m looking forward to my annual fish ‘n chips at Lindy’s Lake House, although I’m thinking I’ll save that for my post-race meal instead of my pre-race one. Or maybe I’ll keep that as my pre-race tradition and try someplace different post-race. There’s plenty of options up there.

And finally, with May’s arrival, there’s a feeling of returning to simple pleasures. With everything else taking priority in my real life, I forgot about how much I loved to read (granted, it’s study materials for my designation), write and play in my kitchen when I’m not working or training. There was a period where I debated if I even wanted to keep writing on here, since I couldn’t figure out if I had anything going on worth writing about. Turns out I have a lot to say after all. So Reader-Friends, I’m excited to take that renewed passion and share more stories with you as the month goes on.

Reader-Friends, I hope you all enjoy the month ahead and May brings you plenty of sunny days and flowers.

Yours in life and writing,

Allison
