Well, this might have been one of my shorter hiatuses to date.
When the writer’s block hits me, it really hits me. And then when I remember I have a few more things I want to say, it lifts like a curtain being raised by the angels.
So I’m back. Since the late time we all chatted:
1.) I interviewed for an internal position with my company. Ultimately I didn’t get the role. The manager I interviewed with felt I needed some more time with the company and to prioritize getting my AU in the next year, which I agree with. After my interview I was having second thoughts regarding if I was really ready for the position. I came to the conclusion that not getting the offer would be the better outcome, and wound up getting some answers to questions I had about the plan of attack for next year. So I’m considering this a win for clarity.
2.) On Nov. 9th Mom and I road-tripped out to Indianapolis for the Indy Monumental Marathon. Based off how Detroit went I was optimistic that I could run the full in five hours. Then I bonked at Miles 10, 15, 20 and I don’t even know when else. My final time: 5:18:10. Still had a great time with Mom and had way too much fun people watching in the hotel lobby.
3.) I got my hair done. Okay, so this isn’t blog-worthy, but there’s something about getting my roots done that makes me feel like I can conquer the world. Or at least not look so rough while going through an average day.
4.) Mom and I went up to Butch Bando’s Fantasy of Lights, which is a drive-through Christmas light show that benefits several local organizations. I was last there in 2019; Mom had never been. It was three miles of beauty and shared laughs when we thought the arrows pointing us towards the entrance was the light show, which would have made for a different post.
In between Butch Bando, going to the “fancy Meijer” and loading up on Mexican and Greek in the same day, Mom and I more fun than we probably should have. We also got about 70% of Christmas shopping done. It was a weekend of wins for us.
5.) Thanksgiving. This year was pretty low-key, which I am more than okay with.
This all brings us to December, a month I’m trying to take slower since I’ve got my birthday, Christmas and end of year stuff at work coming up. I’ll write a bit more about that later on. But for now, I’m going to leave you all with my Christmas tree.

I put it up in early November. And as you all have probably guessed: I don’t care about the tree going up before Thanksgiving. There’s never a “too early” for sparkles and happiness.
Yours in life and writing,
Allison
