I don’t care if it’s crap – astrology is fascinating to me, especially when the traits of the sun sign are accurate to the person.
The person is me.
The person is always me on here.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Sagittarius season falls right in the middle of the holidays. If anything it’s pretty much perfect. The Archer is bold, fiery and expansive. What time of year is more bold than Christmas?
Individual homes and cities put up the trees, decorating them with shining lights and dazzling ornaments. There’s red and green and glitter. Hot chocolate and candies abound, perfect for that sugar high right before it’s time to reach for a mixed drink (or bourbon cherries – turns out you can get buzzed off them.) There’s celebration and relaxation where everyone can finally kick back and unwind after the year.
At the same as the Christmas celebrations, you’ve got the seasons changing. Depending on which part of the world you live in, autumn is shifting to winter. The last copper autumn leaves have fallen and may be covered with the season’s first dusting of snow. Winter Solstice is coming soon on Dec. 21st – which is incidentally the shortest day of the year and the last day of Sagittarius season – and with it comes the start of those frigid but fragile days of winter, where the world is quiet and hibernating in wait of Spring.
Which brings me to yesterday.
My office holiday luncheon took place then, so we all came into the office that morning to “work” before lunch. I had my end-of-year review in the morning – which I knew would be coming but didn’t know when. This which went well and brought an opportunity for next year that I’m optimisitic over.
Then it was time for lunch. It was nice getting to see everyone and shoot the breeze. I love hybrid work as much as anyone else, but sometimes chats don’t cut it and you just want to see people. I also wanted to see Grandboss’ annual Christmas sweater: Santa riding a unicorn while wielding a lightsaber. It doesn’t get any more festive than that.
Grandboss also okayed everyone logging off after lunch if we wanted to head home early. You didn’t have to tell me twice. Once lunch was over, I hopped in the car and was on my way.
Earlier that morning it had snowed. Thankfully it wasn’t heavy, sticking or white-out conditions on my drive in. By early afternoon it was clear with only the white dusting on the grass and rooftops. I wasn’t in any rush, so I decided to head north a little and take the backroads around Hoover Reservoir to get home.
The time of year and the inherent Sagittarius fire usually make me antsier than usual. But as I was driving, I found myself taking in the peaceful landscape around me and being reminded that it’s okay to slow down a bit. Take in the present, really notice life around me as its happening.
I’m turning another year older in a few days and entering a period of both acceptance for where I’ve been and who I am, and excitement for where I’m going and who’s awakening. Year 32 has been a period of growth and comeback. Year 33 is going to see more growth with some adventures that I can’t wait to share with you all. Christmas is going to be a blast, and then winter is my re-loading period.
But first when I got home, I surprised myself by how sleepy I was. So Marina and I curled up and took a nap for about an hour, now that we’re both old ladies and need our sleep.
Then tonight on my way back from the gym, after three miles in la la land, it started to snow again. Glistening white flakes danced across the black evening sky, telling this wound-up Sagittarius to slow down a little and just take it in.
A little calmness never hurt anyone.
And now Reader-Friends, I hope you all enjoy peace in your morning, afternoon or evening ahead.
Yours in life,
Allison
